Work Experience Curriculum
All undergraduate students in the College of HRSM must complete at least two career-related work experiences as part of their degree requirements. A practicum and internship are built into the college's curriculum to ensure that students are ready to hit the ground running as they enter the job market.
The practicum requirement is typically completed in the sophomore year and can be satisfied with any type of job in the field of your major.
The internship requirement is typically completed in the junior or senior year and is a more advanced position than the practicum, including formal internship positions, management or supervisory positions, or rotational positions that include work experience in three or more areas of the same company.
- All internships, regardless of your area, are worth six credit hours, which must be paid for through your tuition.
- Internships receive a letter grade (they are not pass/fail).
- Internships may be paid or unpaid, depending on the employer.
- Internships can be completed anywhere in the world, as long as there is access to the internet or a way to submit related coursework during the experience.
