Who is Eligible to Participate

To Join Upward Bound Students must:

Be a potential first-generation college* student or have need of financial assistance to obtain post-secondary education.

*Potential first generation college student is defined as neither parent (or legal guardian) having obtained a four-year college degree; however, if a student lives with a single parent, only the status of that particular parent is considered.

Students must also:

  • Be recruited as a high school freshman.
  • Possess academic need. (Academic need includes the need for tutoring and/or career advisement.)
