Delta Links
Where Futures Begin
 


Purpose:

To provide mentoring, academic support and higher educational opportunities for young females enrolled at the University of South Carolina Lancaster through the “Delta Links” program. The ultimate goal is to enhance Delta links logo (stylized)academic achievement, improve retention, and promote sisterhood of all women who are working towardsa higher education.

Since 2007, Delta Links' sole purpose was to allow members of the community to serve as role models and provide mentoring, academic support and higher educational opportunities for females enrolled at the University of South Carolina Lancaster. With guidance and mentorship form community leaders, members of Delta Links organization has provided community service through various youth group organizations. As a direct result of membership in Delta Links, the group has experienced improved academic performance, increased retention and graduation rate.


Proposed Functions or Activities: Gathering water for disaster relief

Monthly mentoring sessions held twice a month. These sessions will address academic preparedness, financial needs, personal needs and environmental & cultural concerns.

Various campus and community service projects. Delta Link members will serve as mentors to the youth of Lancaster County through various organizations such as Clinton Elementary School, HOPE of Lancaster, K.A.R.E., Habitat for Humanity, and The Lancaster Children's Home. Through these organization Delta Links will promote the importance of higher education and cultural enrichment activities. In addition, Delta Links will have an active participation in campus sponsored events.
