Two USCL Professors Receive Awards
in
Regional Literary Competition
Dr. Lisa Hammond, Associate Professor of English,
and Mrs. Dianne Evans,
Associate
Professor of Psychology, have been named award
winners in the Arts
Council of Rock Hill and York County’s
2007 Juried Literary Competition for short fiction and poetry.
The Regional Center for the Arts’ Literary Competition is
open to artists in the Southeast area of the United States.
Hammond was awarded 1st place in the Poetry Competition with her
entry, “Moving the State Line.”
Evans was awarded
Honorable Mention in the Short Story competition with her entry, “Lost
in the Fifties.”
The awards and prizes, given annually to local and
regional authors from the Southeast, will be presented at the opening
reception and awards ceremony for the Literary Competition on Thursday,
August 23, at 6:00 p.m. at The Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main
Street, Rock Hill. A poetry and short story reading will follow
the reception at the Cookie Café across from the Center
at 7:00 p.m.
Immediately following the reception, the free Art Crawl kicks
off at multiple locations: Art Market on Main, Center for the Arts,
and the Gallery at Gettys.
