The South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of South Carolina
and USC Lancaster's Native American Studies Program, will be receiving one of the SC State Library’s Ten Notable State Document Awards for 2008 on behalf of the work that USCL faculty and staff did for the poster “Native American Archaeology: Working Backward, Moving Forward.”
This prestigious award will be given on March 16 at a presentation ceremony in Columbia.
While SCIAA manages the logistics behind pulling the poster together and disseminating it every year, the theme and design are planned by various individuals from the archaeological community from year to year. This year Brittany Taylor and Chris Judge, with support from the USC Lancaster Native American Studies program were the inspiration and driving force behind the design that garnered the attention of the South Carolina State Library this year.
