Transfer students and incoming freshmen who plan to attend USCL in Fall 2011 are invited to attend one of USC Lancaster's Summer Orientation sessions.

All accepted USCL students will receive an Orientation invitation by mail once their admission applications are finalized.  In order to help us effectively plan for Orientation, you should register at least five business days before the session you want to attend. You may contact Laura Humphrey at usclorie@mailbox.sc.edu or (803) 313-7066 with any questions.

NOTICE

  Students must register in advance for an orientation session. Please do not report to Orientation without an advance reservation or fee payment.

  PRIOR to attending orientation, you MUST take the ONLINE MATHEMATICS PLACEMENT TEST.  This test must be finished prior to your orientation date to ensure the completion of your course registration while at orientation. 

You must use the University’s VIP system to obtain your user id and password (under the Technology Tab) which you will need when you access the test at https://assess.math.sc.edu . To determine which test to take for your major, please visit https://assess.math.sc.edu/public/MPTbyMajor.pdf. 

The test is ninety minutes.  It must be completed on an individual basis.  Calculators are not allowed.  We recommend that all students take the practice test prior to the actual test. 

Once you have completed the test, you will be instructed to print out a score sheet.  Please do so and bring this with you to your chosen Orientation session. 

Please remember that this test is not a reflection of your ability; it is simply used to place you into the appropriate mathematics course at USCL.  Should you have any questions concerning the test, Dr. Danny Faulkner (dfaulkn@mailbox.sc.edu) is willing to assist you.  Questions regarding your University of South Carolina username and password should be directed to the USC helpdesk in Columbia at 803-777-1800.
