UNCLASSIFIED POSITIONS

Assistant Professor or Instructor of Chemistry

The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a regional campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a faculty position in Chemistry beginning August 16, 2017.  Applicants who hold the Ph.D in Chemistry, including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach introductory chemistry courses, as well as upper-division chemistry courses as needed may be considered for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will normally require the teaching of twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent, including evening and distributed learning courses as needed, as well as a commitment to scholarship and university/community service. Applicants holding the Masters of Science in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Chemistry, including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach introductory chemistry courses, as well as upper division chemistry courses as needed may be considered for a non-tenure-track appointment at the rank of Instructor.  The position will normally require the teaching of twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent, including evening and distributed learning courses as needed and university/community service. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching at the university level. This experience could have been gained during the course of pursuing a graduate degree. Preference will be given to candidates who could also gain approval to teach Biology courses. Student Services Manager I
(Director of TRIO Programs)
Full-time, Temporary, Grant-Funded position
Band 6, Minimum Salary $ 39,960 annually

The Student Services Manager I (Director of TRIO Programs) carries out the administrative responsibilities for the overall planning, development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the Opportunity Scholars Program (Student Support Services) and Upward Bound.  This position supervises Academic Specialist, Cultural Specialist, Administrative Assistants, Business Manager, Project Coordinator, Project Counselor, Tutors, and Student Assistants assigned to the department. This position requires a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services or related field and one (1) year related service, or a bachelor's degree and three (3) years related experience.  Successful applicants must have the ability to manage budgets, write grants, and identify/solicit funding sources.  The ability to supervise and evaluate personnel is required.  Knowledge of academic administration, program planning, and social services delivery systems is required.  Knowledge of the college admissions process, including a thorough understanding of student financial aid procedures and concerns and leadership is needed. Advocacy for educational opportunity, team building/management, knowledge of academic support strategies, and the ability to communicate effectively is required.
