Carolina Artists Selected
for Regional
Craft Exhibition
South
Carolina artists Fran
Gardner, Heath Springs;
Jim Connell, Rock Hill; and David Datwyler,
Spartanburg, will have work displayed in the
juried Spotlight Exhibition in conjunction
with the annual conference of the American
Craft Council – Southeast
Region (ACCSE), both to be held at Arrowmont
School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Fran Gardner is an
Associate
Professor of Art at USC Lancaster.
The
ACCSE conference will take place September 6-8,
2007.
Juror
Sandra J. Blain, of Tempe, Ariz., is a professional
ceramist, Director Emeritus of Arrowmont School
of Arts and Crafts, and Professor Emeritus of
Art at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Blain
has selected a total of 80 artworks by 64 artists
from the 11 state region of the ACCSE for the
exhibition, which will be display August 17 -
September 22, 2007.
ACCSE
is an 11 state regional organization created
by the American Craft Council, from Virginia
to Kentucky, and Florida to Louisiana. The purpose
of ACCSE is to showcase Southeastern craft artists
through exhibitions; educate by workshops, lectures,
panel discussions, etc.; and network artists,
art organizations and institutions through regional
conferences, which are open to everyone.
