What Can I Support?
The mission of Medford Library is to support the teaching and scholarship endeavors of USC Lancaster; to acquire, organize, make accessible, maintain and preserve information resources;
and to educate users about the library’s services, resources, and access. Gifts designated for the library provide such things as literature, periodicals, media equipment, and furnishings to support study and research.
The Athletic Department at USC Lancaster exists to help students enhance their education through participation in intercollegiate athletics. The Athletic Department strives not only to enhance the lives and experiences of student-athletes, but also to enliven the USC Lancaster campus and to foster a clear collegiate identity in the greater Lancaster community and surrounding region.
Athletic facilities, an athletic director, coaches, trainers, athletic scholarships, transportation, and conference dues all require resources that are not covered by state appropriations.
The Educational Foundation of USC Lancaster awards more than 100 academic scholarships each year, but demand exceeds supply. Many USC Lancaster students are first-generation college students who are not adequately prepared for the expense of a university education. Tuition, fees, and book costs have risen in the past five years due in large part to the state’s limited funding of higher education. Scholarships can help ensure students showing academic promise can achieve their education goals without accumulating burdensome debt, and endowments can fund scholarships permanently.
The Boudreaux Group of Columbia recently completed a facilities master plan (the first for
USC Lancaster since 1977) that includes recommendations for signage, fencing, pedestrian access, green spaces, landscaping, and the creation of a college avenue along Hubbard Drive. The implementation of the plan will significantly improve USC Lancaster’s physical appearance and public perception of our campus.
Changes in technology, teaching methods, and general wear and tear require constant attention to maintenance and upgrades, and over time accommodating a growing student body requires new facilities for classrooms, administration, and faculty. Funds are always welcome for capital projects to keep our facilities up-to-date, attractive, and in good repair.
