Carolina Women’s Health Conference and Research Forum
Fall 2011, Columbia, SC

Carolina Women's Health Conference 2011Students Sara Newton, Kayla McCoy, Jessica Bunting, Amber Smith, and Amber Robinson presented research at this conference.  The reference for these presentations are below:

Kayla McCoy, Sara Newton, Jessica Bunting, Amber Smith, Amber Robinson, and Alissa K. Holland. (2011).  Changes in State Anxiety as a Function of Exposure to Right-Lateralized Stress: Implications for Processing Affective Stress in College-Aged Women.  Presented at the 2011 Women’s Health Research Forum, Columbia, SC.

Sara Newton, Kayla McCoy, Jessica Bunting, Amber Robinson, Amber Smith, and Alissa K. Holland.  (2011).  Behavioral Correlates of Changes in Right Hemisphere Activation in Women with High and Low Levels of Trait Anxiety.  Poster presented at the 2011 Women’s Health Research Forum, Columbia, SC.

The South Carolina Psychological Association 40th Annual Meeting

Lab intern John Hardin and lab assistants Anna Catoe, John Rutledge, and Amber Smith were recognized for their hard work and dedication in presenting preliminary data on differences in grip strength in men and women.  The title of their presentation was "Examining Changes in Grip Strength Before and After Exposure to an Auditory Stressor as a Function of Perceived Stress".

The previous year, former lab assistants and psychology club members Jennifer Kirby, Brooke, Hunter, and Leah Leak successfully presented preliminary data on differences in times estimation abilities on low and high hostile men.  The title of their presentation was "A Functional Cerebral Systems Approach to Examining Changes in Arousal in the Left and Right Frontal Lobes as a Function of Hostility".
